The project proposal is aimed at strengthening the tourist vocation of the area surrounding Lake Varese through a "revalorisation of the territory" implemented with physical connection tools and actions and with ecotourism-type territorial marketing strategies as a driving force for sustainable development. The route of the cycle/pedestrian path is interconnected by means of gateway nodes, with other existing circuits both in the Province and in the vast area of the Lombardy Region and the neighboring regions. The approach to the cycle path is designed gradually by means of successive threshold areas, signposted and equipped in such a way as to allow the necessary distance between vehicular traffic, the car parks on one side and the waterfront strip where places the track on the other. As a basis for the project, some areas of particular naturalistic or historical-artistic interest were identified in which to intervene more broadly, not only by introducing the structures serving the track but by redeveloping and rearranging entire "territorial transversality" of particular interest so as to make it permeable the territory and consequently the cycle path, thus inserting it into an easily identifiable system, in which it is possible to circulate without barriers and obstacles.
